Hi, I'm Sayuri — a certified Japanese teacher, podcaster, and blogger based in Fukuoka, Japan.

I host Nihongo Time, a weekly podcast and blog for Japanese learners. Each episode covers a real topic — Japanese culture, news, slang, or daily life — spoken in natural but easy-to-follow Japanese. Every episode comes with a full written script on this blog, so you can read along, review vocabulary, and study at your own pace.

Why I teach this way

I study English and Chinese myself, so I know how it feels to struggle with a new language. I believe the best way to learn is through content that's actually interesting — not just textbook dialogues. That's why my episodes are about real things happening in Japan: from vending machine culture to viral monkey stories to how Valentine's Day is changing.

My background

I completed a 420-hour Japanese Language Teacher Training Course and have been teaching Japanese to learners from all over the world. I also teach on italki, where I offer lessons tailored to your goals — whether that's conversation practice, JLPT prep, grammar study, reading news, or business Japanese.
