Vocabulary to notice

• 玄関 (げんかん) — entryway
• 畳 (たたみ) — tatami mat
• 台所 (だいどころ) — kitchen
• 冷蔵庫 (れいぞうこ) — refrigerator
• 炊飯器 (すいはんき) — rice cooker
• 押し入れ (おしいれ) — built-in storage
• お風呂 (おふろ) — bathroom or bath
• 部屋 (へや) — room

Grammar focus

Use 〜にあります to say where a thing is: 冷蔵庫は台所にあります。 (The refrigerator is in the kitchen.)

Practice after listening

1. Listen before looking at the list. How many rooms or objects can you identify?
2. Find each word in the transcript and say it aloud.
3. Describe one room in your home with 〜にあります.
